ISQua Conference 2009
Health Care Informed (HCI) joined over 1000 international delegates at the 26th International ISQua Conference –Designing for Quality, which was held in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin on 10th to 13th October. It was a busy week jammed with seminars, workshops and presentations on all aspects of Quality and Safety in Healthcare and was an exciting opportunity to learn about best practice in quality in healthcare from all around the world.
We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet with so many Irish and international delegates who visited the HCI stand, as well as catching up with a few familiar faces!
The week flew by as we attended as many of the interesting and insightful presentations that were given. As well as chairing a number of the sessions, we also presented several papers and posters on such aspects as Clinical Governance Information Systems, EU Regulations, Policies and Procedures, and Patient Safety Legislation.
HCI featured prominently at the Conference (not just with our well positioned stand!). Clodagh Geraghty (HCI Director of Research) presented a paper on Designing an Effective Legal Environment for Clinical Incident Disclosure under the theme of Clinical Audit. Clodagh also chaired a Brief Paper Presentation on Healthcare Education and Research.
Karen Reynolds from Sligo General Hospital presented a paper on the Implementation of a Quality Management Information System utilising Q-Pulse which led to a lively question and answer session and a great deal of interest in Q-Pulse and HCI services! In fact, we had to order extra Q-Pulse brochures for the next day!
John Sweeney (HCI Director) delivered a poster presentation on Development of a Residential Policies and Procedures Framework. Amy Collins (HCI Quality & Safety Executive) chaired a poster presentation on Healthcare Indicators and a poster presentation on Workforce Issues.
HCI had four posters on display which generated a great deal of interest, and our poster presentations were very well attended, indicating a increasing demand for the services that HCI provides.
Our posters were:
- Development of a Residential Policies and Procedures Framework
- EU Tissue/Cell Directive – A Catalyst for Quality Systems in Irish Fertility Units
- Facilitating the Fixers – Enabling Tradespeople to keep Hospitals Safe (in conjunction with Sligo General Hospital)
- A Review of National Incident Reporting – a Recipe for Success? (in conjunction with HIQA)
