Quality and Safety Audits incorporating Tracer Systems will help to improve the quality of care your organisation provides by enabling Quality Improvement Plans to be identified and created. HCI’s Internal Quality and Safety Audit Training will educate health and social care professionals on the skills and techniques required to effectively conduct audits using tracer systems in their organisations.

Overview and Objectives of Internal Quality and Safety Audit Training
Internal Quality and Safety Audit Part 1
This session will be looking at the rational and importance for all Organisation’s to be fully confident in the management of risks in their organisation through robust auditing and monitoring systems. You will gain an understanding into the Introduction of Internal Quality and Safety Audits principles including the legislation and the standards required to be complied with.
The session then focuses on skills and techniques required for conducting audits, this will be carried out using a workshop methodology. Two cases and the outcomes of the cases will then be reviewed as part of the learning. This session will consist of a presentation followed by Question and Answer Session.
Internal Quality and Safety Audit Part 2
Following on from the first presentation the aims here will be to understand the concepts process flow (steps) and framework used for conducting Internal Quality and Safety Audits, this section will also incorporate a tracer methodology which uses the service users’ journey as a guide to the systems review.
The session aims to ensure all attendees gain an insight into the assessment methods to identify non-conformances in their own area of work. It will consist of a presentation and also take a detailed look at Service and Care Provision non-conformances which will be the focus of the group work session.
Internal Quality and Safety Audit Training Part 3
This session will focus on Methods of Audit Execution including strategies for Interviewing staff, Documentation reviews and observation techniques.
Following on from the interview and collection of data though a triangulation process participant will be guided on how to form initial impressions on the findings gathered. Participants will then discuss best practice in generation of the Audit Report. Quality of audit reporting is critical for all organisations, particularly if reports must be submitted to external parties. The participants will discuss key factors such as recording of factors only, positive feedback and the priority/risk rating of the findings.
Summary and Close
Summary of the day and group discussion. All sessions will have handouts which are presented in a folder and all attendees will receive a training certificate at the end of the day.
